WildFlower Patchwork

My self directed brief is based around wildflowers and patchwork. Such a big part of my designs are my love of flowers and florals have always been such a strong element in my work. My main two wallpapers were designed using handprinted watercolour motifs. I created a screen printed wallpaper, from drawings of wildflowers. The brief was about building a collection with colour theme and design and for me I already felt I had such a strong theme and the colours came together nicely from the pinks and purples with a lovely tonal olive green. This project has been my favourite so far , I love creating watercolour images and building onto hard materials like tiles with a uv printer and laser cutter

Floral Lace

Lace has been something that has been around for years and has a strong history behind it, which I explored through a lot of research and development of may designs. This project was all about getting visuals and experimenting with materials within a narrative. By starting with my six objects that all link together vintage florals on plates , lace , fake flowers ect. all these objects built up the base of my work. My designs were built from hand drawn motifs and digital lace patterns. I looked at a lot of different techniques to help develop this project from Lino cutting to digital drawing to screen printing. in which I Experimented with acid dye , screen printing which is now one of my favourite techniques to use and developing my colour palette with a dark olive green. A lot of my work was about the detail in the lace I wanted to show the delicate lace in a new way.

Floral Wallpaper
Florals , Flowers are used all the time throughout wallpaper. William Morris is well known for his beautiful florals which are now used in interior designs.
Designing my own wallpaper pattern came with its own challenges and experimentations .
I started with simple little floral elements which I then put into a scallop shape. The Scallop gave my design structure to build into a repeating wallpaper.
I experimented with different colour fabrics and colour pallets when screen printing. my favourite style was the blue print with a offset metallic silver oa black background I feel it made my design standout on the page.
when creating a whole roll of wallpaper it was about precision and accuracy when screen printing it.
